What Is Entity SEO?
Entity SEO is making a brand one identifiable thing: same name, same facts, same founder and profile links. When the name already means a novel, a phrase, or another product, pair it with the real URL and category. A Knowledge Panel or a public knowledge-base record can follow from that consistency. Neither is a product you can order.
What an entity is
Search engines and answer engines treat a brand as a thing with facts: name, URL, founder, category, sameAs links. If those facts conflict across the site, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, and a Wikipedia-adjacent record, the brand is harder to identify.
Entity work is the check. Same official name. Same product URL. Same founder. Same category description. Correct what you can. Leave what you cannot. This is BOFU hygiene because buyers and answers both verify those facts before they choose.
What gets checked
- Name and URL — one official product name, one canonical site, no leftover domains describing a different product.
- Founder and company profiles — LinkedIn, X, and other profiles a searcher can open. Wrong job titles and dead links get fixed when the profile is yours to edit.
- Category language — the product should not be a CRM on one page and an analytics suite on another.
- Public records you can correct — directory listings and knowledge-base entries with an edit path. Records you do not control stay listed as gaps, not as promised wins.
When the name already means something else
A product named Flare shares Wikipedia with a burst of light. Oh Dear shares an English phrase. There There shares a novel. The software still has to be identifiable next to those.
Same-name records belong in the entity check. Pair the official name with the real URL and the category, on every page and profile you control. List colliding Wikipedia pages and leftover domains as gaps. A Knowledge Panel will not wipe them, and you cannot order one.
A Knowledge Panel is a side effect
A Google Knowledge Panel, a Wikidata item, or a cleaner knowledge graph entry can follow from consistent facts. None of those is a deliverable. You cannot order a panel. You can make the brand easier to identify and then see what, if anything, appears.
Vendors who sell “we will get you a Knowledge Panel” are selling an outcome they do not control. goBOFU does not name those vendors on the public offer, and it does not sell that outcome. The work is the facts. The panel, if it shows up, is a side effect.
This sits next to AEO and off-page SEO. Entity consistency makes lists and answers easier to attach to the right product. It does not make an engine mention you.
